Why do we need to Recycle computers?
Old and obsolete electronic equipment in general and computers in specific have so many parts that can be recycled. Metal, aluminium, lead, copper, gold and other materials can be 100% recyclable. If not recycled, they will become source of toxins and carcinogens such as dioxins,chromium, radioactive isotopes, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), cadmium and mercury. Rapid development of technology is leading to more and more outdated computers and other electronic equipment, which is inturn leading to exponentially inceasing electronic debris.
In the United States itself, more than 10 million old computers are scrapped every year.
The New York Times estimates that in the United
States alone more than 12 million computers are thrown into
landfills annually, adding somewhere around 600 million pounds of garbage and
toxic waste to the country's disposal problems.
We request everyone to pay tribute to our Mother Earth by honestly and voluntarily recycling everything possible in appropriate way and thus reduce the impact of electronic pollution to our future generations.
